507-12 Blade Humbucker
The 507-12 is a stainless steel blade humbucker that is electrically identical to a popular 10 string blade humbucker with a similar sounding name that was originally introduced in the 1970s. The original pickup this design is based on was not originally available in 12 string, but the tone produced by this design is very popular and I thought 12 string players would appreciate this new choice.
Similar to my 507 for 10 string, I have revised the pickup body design and wiring arrangement to remove the wasted height in the original 10 string model and the current 10 string reissue model on the market. The changes are to plastic body parts only and do not affect the electrical design.
The 507-12 is 3/4 inch tall including the pathway for the pickup wires, whereas the original/reissue is 7/8 inch tall with another 1/8 inch of height required for the cable.
The blades used are the same stainless steel as the 507 only longer. I wind the 507-12 to the same 15 Henry of the 507 ten string version and also by extension the same 15 Henry of the original 10 string version, so the tone is almost identical 10 or 12 string.
The 507-12 pickup has an industry standard 12 string wide mount base, and the blades are 97 mm long which will cover all 12 string spacings. Narrow mount is also available on request.
Steeltronics utilizes on demand 3D printing for key components, therefore normal production time is 4 weeks for most orders.
